This is for you if...

You want to keep Spanish alive in your life but feel stuck or overwhelmed by traditional learning methods.

You're ready to practice consistently but need an approach that feels supportive, not demanding.

You want to speak with more confidence and comfort, even if your grammar isn't perfect.

You value connection and real-life usage over memorizing rules.

You're tired of starting programs you can't maintain and want something sustainable.

You're ready to learn or refresh Spanish. You want it to stick this time. Mostly you want to be able to converse!

Welcome to Spanish on the Patio – a supportive community for busy adults who want to build a sustainable Spanish practice and actively practice it with other like-minded Spanish learners without the pressure to spend hours learning grammar rules, memorize long vocabulary lists, without constantly feeling behind.

If Spanish feels like something you keep meaning to get back to...

You're not alone. And it’s not too late.

Maybe you studied Spanish years ago and it's slipped away.

Maybe you use it occasionally but feel stuck at a certain level.

Maybe you've tried apps, classes, or programs that started strong but didn't stick.

And yet, you still feel tongue-tied, and frustrated that for all your attempts to learn, you still can’t have a reasonable conversation.

The problem wasn't you. The problem was the approach.

Most Spanish learning methods assume people have hours to dedicate to memorization of grammar rules and vocabulary practiced via dry workbooks or automated online activities. These methods fail to provide the crucial step of using what you’ve learned to engage in meaningful ways.

That’s how Spanish on the Patio is different.

This is Spanish that fits into your busy life as it is right now.

Spanish on the Patio is a weekly practice space designed for people with full lives. It's not a course you complete. It's a place where life-long learners show up, practice conversation, and keep Spanish alive in a way that feels sustainable and authentic. Think of it as a gym you attend regularly to keep your “Spanish muscles” strong.

Every week, we gather for live practice that emphasizes consistency over intensity and connection over correctness. You'll learn or recall grammar with mini-lessons woven into real-life usage. You'll build personalized lists of relevant vocabulary to describe your life. You'll get comfortable speaking and making mistakes. You’ll stop drawing blanks and wondering how to put sentences together.

The goal is not to achieve fluency in 6 months. The goal is to become conversant. Confident that you can ask and answer simple questions so you can enjoy conversing.

Here's what makes this different:

You don't need more time, talent, or discipline to succeed here. You need a space that meets you where you are and normalizes messy learning. That's what this is.

How it works

Weekly live practice sessions where we speak, listen, and build comfort with real Spanish usage. These sessions are gentle, practical, and designed to lower the pressure you might feel in traditional classes.

A supportive community of adults who feel the same way you do. People who want to keep Spanish in their lives without the shame or stress of perfectionism.

Ongoing access to resources mini video lessons, that reinforce what we practice together, so you can revisit and absorb at your own pace.

A teaching approach that works with your brain, not against it. Repetition, reassurance, and real-life context instead of drills and tests.

You show up weekly. You practice. You feel a little more comfortable each time. That's it.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see an answer to your specific question, send me an email at cynthia@spanishonthepatio.com

  • You should have some foundation in Spanish. This is for adults who've studied before and want to keep practicing, improve their comfort level, or get unstuck. If you're starting from absolute zero, this might not be the right fit yet.

  • Live sessions are where the magic happens, so attending is encouraged. However, recordings will be available if you need to miss occasionally.

  • You'll commit to one weekly live session (around 60 minutes). Beyond that, you can engage as much or as little as feels right. This is designed to fit into your life, not take it over.

  • There is no "behind" here. This is ongoing practice, not a linear curriculum. You join when you join and keep showing up. That's the whole approach.

  • Fluency is a long road that requires immersion and intensive practice. This membership gives you momentum, confidence, and the tools to keep Spanish present in your life. Think of it as the sustainable practice that makes everything else possible.

  • Yes. This is a monthly membership. You can cancel whenever it no longer serves you.

You don't have to keep putting this off.

Spanish doesn't have to be the thing you keep meaning to get back to someday. It can be something you're actively practicing, right now, in a way that feels good.

Founding membership is open from February 9 through February 16. We start together on February 17.

No rigid timelines. No shame. Just steady, supportive practice with a group of people who get it.
